Head of Sales
The Head of Sales will be responsible for developing and executing sales strategies, meeting sales targets, and managing the sales team for the organization.
This includes building and maintaining key customer relationships, providing input into product development, and collaborating with marketing, customer service, and other departments to align with the company's vision and goals.
Responsibilities and Duties
Develop and execute sales strategy. Create and implement a strategic sales plan that expands the company's customer base and ensures a strong presence in the market.
Parse incoming inquiries. Receive website inquiries, decide which sales "box" they fit into, shape up our response, and distribute to the appropriate team member for followup.
Meet sales targets. Set and achieve sales goals and quotas on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
Manage sales team. Oversee the activities and performance of the sales team. This includes recruiting, training, setting sales targets, and monitoring team performance.
Customer relationship management. Establish and maintain relationships with key customers, industry influencers, and strategic partners.
Sales forecasting and reporting. Conduct sales forecasts, monitor customer preferences and trends, and provide regular sales reports to company leadership.
Market research. Stay up-to-date with new product launches and ensure sales team members are on board.
Input into product development. Provide input into the development of new products or services based on customer feedback and market research.
Sales training and development. Develop and implement training to enhance sales skills, product knowledge, and performance of the sales team.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven sales experience, meeting or exceeding targets.
- Previous experience as a sales manager or sales director, with the ability to lead and inspire a team.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated and driven, with a passion for sales.
- Proven ability to drive the sales process from planning to closing.
- Knowledge of CRM software.
- Understanding of sales performance metrics.
Work Environment
The Head of Sales typically works in an office environment during regular business hours, but this role may also require travel to meet with clients, attend industry events, or visit different company locations. Extended hours may be required during critical sales periods or to meet project deadlines. Given the nature of the role, remote work or a combination of remote and office work may be possible.
